The Ministry of Interior has modernized its communication and information equipment
March 2011 is the deadline for Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area.
On March 2, 2010 the Central Finance and Contracts Unit of the Ministry of Finance assigned to Consortium TBS-Samel the delivery of telephone equipment for 3000 lines for RBS, BPD, Level I and II at the external borders. The union includes two companies specialized in telecommunications - Telecom Business Solutions and Samel-90 - Samokov. Subject of LOT 3 of the procurement is television, communication, telecommunication and related equipment types for 1 439 229.6 BGN, including VAT. The contract is funded under Project BIP 2008 Schengen Facility, Action 3 Measure 1.
The contract aims to improve the capacity of the border police as part of the priorities of the Republic Bulgaria for full integration into the Schengen Information System and includes expansion and modernization of existing telecommunication equipment for nine border facilities of the Interior Ministry and delivery of new telephone system configurations for twenty border objects.
